Bury St Edmunds 12 miles
A lovely market town, that still holds markets on a Wednesdays and Saturdays. It also has the beautiful Abbey Gardens and its ruins, Greene King brewery museum, Theatre Royal, cinema complex. It is also great for shopping, with lots of very good eating establishments; you will also find the smallest pub in the country and so much more.
Sudbury 8 miles
A small market town which holds its markets on a Thursday and Saturdays.
Here you will find Gainsborough’s House which hold a large collection of his works, a local theatre and you can even take a boat trip on the River Stour (summer only). There is a great leisure centre for swimming etc, in addition you could enjoy a river walk along the banks of the Stour.
Hadleigh 10 miles
A small wool town which is rich in architectural history with a Guildhall, good selection of interesting shops, riverside walk, restaurants and pubs.
Ipswich 22 miles
Offers very good shopping has a good park and ride service, Ipswich Soccer Stadium, museums, churches, river cruises and a flourishing water front.
Newmarket 29 miles
The home of Horse racing. Spend the day at the races and on some meetings in the summer they offer some great evening entertainment, the National Stud and the Horse Racing Museum.
Cambridge 35 miles
This is a stunning city has so much to see and do. It has a very good park and ride into the town centre where you can visit one of the many collages or take a punt on the River Cam, shopping, eating, stroll round the Botanic Gardens, a good day out.
Ely 45miles
Here you will find the amazing Ely Cathedral, lovely walks along the River Cam, Oliver Cromwells House.
Suffolk Coast within 50 miles
Southwold, Aldeburgh, Walberswick.
Southwold has a lovely pier and its colourful beach huts, it is also the home of Adnams Brewery.
Walberswick has a great pub called the Anchor plus a sandy beach.
Aldeburgh this is where you will find the sculpture in honer of Benjamin Britten right on the beach which is a pebble beach, the promenade, you will also find some huts where you can buy lovely fresh fish or if you would prefer you can get great fish and chips here. Nearby is Snape Maltings.
